A week with FISHIN' FRENZY

April 2, 2026 · Miloš Kovač

I went into FISHIN' FRENZY expecting a five-minute distraction and came out a week later still checking the water for that one fish I hadn't caught. That's not the reaction I planned to have, and it says a lot about how well the core loop is tuned.

The genius is in the timing. Every cast is a tiny gamble on reading the surface — a certain ripple means a certain fish, and once you internalise that, the game turns into a quiet test of patience and attention. It never rushes you, and it never shouts.

Control-wise this is a textbook example of designing for a phone. Everything is within thumb reach, the reeling drag is forgiving, and I played whole sessions one-handed on a crowded train without a single fumble. FISHIN' FRENZY understands that most mobile play happens in awkward, interrupted moments.

My one practical tip: dive into the settings and cap the frame rate. The water effects are pretty but they cost battery, and the game feels identical at the lower setting. With that tweak I got a long session out of one charge.

It's not a deep game and it doesn't try to be. But as a thing to reach for when you have five spare minutes, it's about as polished as this genre gets on a phone.
